Managing Partner
Josh Berger is a leader in the staffing industry known for his strong personal relationships in the accounting/finance community. Prior to cofounding Polaris, Josh spent a few years being an awful accountant and then found his passion in recruiting. At Kforce, he spent ten years as a recruiter and managed the Finance & Accounting division winning highest production honors every year.
As a Managing Partner with Polaris Financial Staffing, Josh leads business development, recruiting strategy and training. He continues to run a full recruiting desk (and probably always will because he loves his clients and candidates!)
Recruiter Director – Partner
In the Atlanta Accounting community, if you haven’t been placed in a job by Laura O’Rourke, you probably know someone who has. Laura O’Rourke has been a staple in Atlanta’s finance and accounting recruiting industry for over 20 years. Prior to cofounding Polaris, Laura was part of award winning teams at Kforce and Solomon Edwards. In 2009, she joined forces with Josh Berger to help create and grow Polaris Financial Staffing. Laura sets the bar very high regarding customer service, candidate delivery and ethical recruiting conduct.
Laura has been overheard saying things like “Polaris has been the best career decision of my life” and “Josh Berger is the smartest staffing leader I’ve ever worked with”, but to be fair, these things were said during a Polaris Happy Hour. However, we are fairly certain that she likes it here.
Laura placed me in my current position. It was a pleasure to work with Laura. She quickly found a position which matched my requirements, skills and experience. A year and a half later it is still proving to be a great match for me and my employer.
I worked for approximately 4 years with Josh. He is one of the main recruiters for CRH Internal Audit in the USA. He (and his network) introduced a significant number of high quality candidates that accepted positions and made a career in CRH. In one odd case that didn’t work out he still solved the issue and went beyond the contract that was in place. On a less serious note, he is fun to work with!
Josh a highly capable professional who knows how to get things moving, AND he is also a great guy. He helped me along my career path and his professionalism and values earned my respect. I highly recommend him.
I had the privilege to work with Josh. Without a doubt, Josh loves what he does: he always puts the client’s interests before his own and delivers on promises made. His perceptive listening skills and his ability to ask good questions of both the client and candidate is what allows him to identify the right candidate on a consistent basis.
Laura was the best recruiter I ever had the privilege of working with. First of all, she always kept me busy because she had a varied assortment of clients; and because her clients loved the professional disposition she brought to bear, she was always their first choice. She would always look out for my interest in negotiating the terms of my contract. It always amazed me how she could strike an acceptable balance between the client and her consultant, without alienating either one. Her interest doesn’t stop after the placement, she stayed proactive, reaching out to make sure that I was happy at the assignment– that always gave me a sense of security and comfort. In moments of crisis, she was my best hope for soothing. She had this knack for accessing work related situations and giving you the best professional advice there is. It is not often you have a recruiter that could also be a friend! And in all these years, she never failed to make me feel special; and that sentiment is shared among colleagues. During the down periods, most recruiters are known to forget about you, but not Laura: those occasional emails, and phone calls to check on me, were highly appreciated because it made me feel that really, she was working for me, despite the odds. I like Laura a lot, and would never hesitate to work with her again. She is one of those rare managers that comes by every once in a long while; and once you work with her, you’d never want to let go!!
